FACING THE ADVERSITY OF THE WORLD

The world passes through adversity as countries, as cultures, even on a global level, just as we do individuals. We have battles with ego, not standing up for our selves, needing to re invent how we go about things, or perhaps confronting those around us. The world, on a human level, is just a more complicated person. And when conflict and upheaval present themselves in a worldly context the stakes are much higher. We can pass through our own conflicts without affecting the lives of others, or the economy of nations. We can overcome personal weaknesses and face the world anew, us bing reinvented facing a world that is ready for our best self to arise. But when the world is in a time of great flux and conflict, we find our selves in control of very little. It is a far more humbling affair.

The question is can we be consistent in our approach to life regardless of the circumstances of the world. Life is a thing of constantly preparing for vest case scenarios while knowing instinctively that nothing is guaranteed. Best case scenarios are not fantasies, they are always grounded in reality. To prepare for a fantasy life during any state of worldly affairs is not the wise path, unless our fantasy is grounded in reality.

As a human being like the rest of you, it is impossible not to take into consideration the state of world affairs. The challenge is that the media loves ot feed on and nourish fear and emotional reaction, and yet to keep our finger on the pulse of life, we need to be aware of the world as it relates to us. The bittersweet story of our relationship to the world is, on the sweet side, we are resilient things. We can adapt. We can find ways to make it through challenging times. The bitter, sour side of things is that there is no way to prepare for worst case situations. If we find our selves trying to figure out how to prepare for the worst, we are wasting our time. We can prepare for difficult. To this we should not worry about worst case scenarios in the world for that very reason. It is pointless. History unfolds and we are all humbled by the ebb and flow of economies, politics, as well as the power plays that can erupt in the world.

Instinctively we all know that all things have cycles of expansion and contraction and we are bit little things floating in the Sea of life’s ebb and flow. So many of the stories we read, the tales, the wisdom, the inspiring things come from people surrounded by the most intense levels of adversity. Depressions. Conflicts. Times of oppression. It is a time to feel small when things look like they are heading into challenges, perhaps great challenges. BUt to the wise. It is always a time to feel small. An enlightened person in the best of times, gets up everyday to savor how small they are in the grand scheme of things. This is spiritual reality. The soul can expand beyond situations and even time and history to a degree, but our humanness cannot. It is small and fragile in the face of the world at all times.

We are not isolated in our thoughts and feelings. Fear creates an invisible cloud that expands far and wide in times of world conflict, as does love and hope. Know who you are. Let all times and situations being an alarm bell to embrace who you truly are, something you may very well may not fully know yet, but let life remind that this quest is the most important. Find love and meaning wherever you are. This is all we have in the end. And, of course, do not be an unnecessary burden to others. Life is precious. Too precious to take on the burdens that others choose to hang on to.

Life unfolds. What is predictable can turn to chaos at any time, and what is chaos can find resolve at any time. These grand currents of life, the greatest ones, those times of expansion are contraction are not up to us. Did anyone vote for the renaissance? The dark ages? No, they just happened. We are guests in history. Be wise. Be strong. Release you self from what you cannot control. Follow your best path given what you have to work with. Everything changes yet our principles must remain the same. It is all we have. No one is to blame and everyone is to blame. It is just one more rodeo for us.
